This month’s inspiration: soft harvest
Is a poem the softest kind of harvest?
As writers, we are constantly planting things without knowing exactly what they will become. We collect images, overheard conversations, memories, questions, fragments, heartbreaks, observations, strange sentences, and small moments.
Consider what YOU have been growing—quietly, slowly, imperfectly—and what is finally ready to be gathered.
A harvest doesn’t have to be abundant or dramatic. It could also be not what we expected to grow, but what we’ve carried forward and made our own.
Approach that gathering with tenderness. Instead of demanding answers from ourselves or forcing a piece of writing into completion, we can notice what is already there and gently bring it to the page.
Write from a season of your life — What is ending, beginning, or changing?
Harvest from an old draft — Find a line, image, or idea from an unfinished piece and build something new around it.
Make an inventory — List what you’ve gained, lost, learned, carried, or outgrown.

Doors Open: 7PM (30 minute Poetry Social)
Arrive for Check-in on time, grab a cookie, your printed poem, a seat, and hang out in community! This is the perfect time to chat with poets. Please stay until the end of the event. Help us make the most of our No-Cost Workshops by arriving on time, which will limit the amount of distractions.
What is Writer's Lab, Feedback Workshop?
All writing levels welcome.
Bring a work in progress to help you improve your piece! Share your poem within a small breakout group to better hear your voice and get feedback from other writers.
An optional writing theme will be shared every month on Instagram and in our monthly email newsletter.
During the small groups, the poet has the final say in any edits.

Writer’s Lab - Event Specifics:
12pm Cut Off: We can print submissions submitted by**12pm on the day of the event** otherwise bring your own printed copies.

Format: You must email your poem as a PDF or Word Doc
SUBJECT of the email titled WRITER’S LAB and the Date of the Event.
The page we print must have your name on it
We will print 5 copies that you will pick up upon your arrival.

You must to have a printed copy of your poem in order to receive feedback in the small group breakouts.
Limited printing available. Bring 5 copies or email us your poem. You must include a title and have your name printed on the document.
